As mentioned at the AGM last night, Surrey will host legs 3 & 4 of the Archery GB National Series on the 11th & 12th July 2015.
Sunday 12th July is also the Senior County Outdoor Target Championships where you get the chance to compete against fellow Surrey archers for county medals and trophies. It also means you will be shooting alongside the top archers from the UK and Germany, which will be a bit scary for some, but also a fantastic opportunity to learn and step up your game.
As it is a combined national & county event, it has meant some changes for 2015, and the juniors will have their own championships (which they are already aware of). We have increased the number of targets to 72 giving 288 spaces per day, which is almost double the number of adult recurve and compound targets we had in this year.
The entry for SAW2015 will open at 9AM on 1st January 2015 (New Years Day).
Many archers don’t think about entering the county champs until April, but by then it will be too late and spaces will be filled. Oxford (who are hosting the first two legs of the National Series) sold out in three days, so even though we have a bigger field, this may well happen to us within one week, so get your entries in!
There are 80 spaces reserved for Surrey archers, shooting recurve or compound, and there will be 6 targets available for longbow and barebow on the Sunday. However, as a Surrey archer, you MUST enter before the 1st of February 2015 to get one of the reserved spaces, as after that, any unused Surrey spaces will be released to those on the waiting list (similarly, if you don’t get a space, you’ll be put onto the waiting list).
Should you be on the waiting list, preference will be given to those who applied to shoot for both days of the event. You can apply to shoot on just the Sunday, but if the entry list fills fast (as it is predicted to do so), and if you miss the reserved spaces, you may not get in at all.
So in short, apply early!
When entry opens at 9AM on the 1st of January, it is likely that the website may get very busy, so please keep trying, and be patient.
